Celery Seed (Apium graveolens). Originally native to the Mediterranean the plant produces tiny fruit that, when dried, are known as Celery Seed.
The Celery Seeds can be eaten raw and are a tasty ingredient to add flavour and interest to a salad dressing. Use sparingly sprinkled on vegetables, fish, eggs and meat dishes or add to soups and stews for a warm celery type flavour. Some chefs consider that the flavour is better if seeds are ground, which also gives more versatility, particularly for adding a pinch or two to lift vegetarian recipes that might otherwise be bland.
